VERNON FIRE - RESCUE SERVICES

The VFRS team is comprised of career and volunteer firefighters that are committed to keeping our community safe in all types of emergencies. This requires continuous training to ensure when emergencies occur they have the skills, training and capability to handle the situation. One type of emergency that requires specialized training is hazardous material incidents. Hazardous materials are any products that if accidentally released can threaten life, property, and the environment.

Vernon Volunteer Fire Fighters Gerald Fitt (Green middle), Kevin Scott (Blue right), Cliff Acob (Blue middle), Jason Clarke (grey middle) and Scott Pshyk (Grey left) go through the Hazardous Materials decontamination procedures at a recent Tuesday night practice at Vernon Fire Rescue. Once a hazardous materials situation has been mitigated by trained personnel, they must be decontaminated by going through a series of pools so as not to come in contact with any of the product.
