'Help Kids Float' Launched

Attention: open in a new window.
People are asked to donate old life jackets for the program 'Help Kids Float'The program is called "Help Kids Float" and anyone with a spare life jacket can help out. Sgt. Josh Lockwood from the North Okanagan BC Conservation Office says they're asking people to donate the flotation devices. He says, "Rather than have them hanging in your garage or stuffed in a storage box, we're asking that they donate them to our office." Lockwood says they will then be given to inner city and aboriginal youth during the free family fishing weekend in June. "Once we collect a significant amount of old life-jackets, they will be certified by Transport Canada's boat safety inspector to make sure they meet the requirements." Life-jackets can be dropped off at the Vernon Conservation office (Ministry of Environment) at 4607 -- 23rd Street, behind ICBC.
