So far no luck in following up on a cougar sighting in Okanagan Landing this morning. The female, with two kittens was seen crossing 25th avenue in the 52 hundred block. Conservation officer Mike Richardson says he's been on the hunt since 6:30 AM and hasn't had any sign of it himself or other calls. Richardson tells KISS FM, "For people in the area with pets, they may want to bring any small pets like dogs or cats into their houses because if this cat is around the area, she may be looking for a quick and easy meal." Richardson says if you do see the cat, then call the conservation office at 1-877-952-7277. File photo

Cougar Search Called Off Conservation officers have abandoned their search for a cougar in Okanagan Landing---because they're not convinced there was one. A newspaper delivery person said he saw a cougar with two babies in the 25th Avenue area around 6 this morning. Sgt Josh Lockwood of the Conservation Service says a search soon after found nothing, and he suspects it may have been a coyote or a bobcat with their young offspring. "In the last 12 years, we've never had a complaint about a cougar in that area of Bella Vista near Okanagan Landing." Lockwood says they had no other calls about the animals."Right now we're looking at it as unable to locate."
