Lumby Waits For BC Corrections' Evaluation Team- Mayor not worried about recent `No jail' protest

A BC Corrections evaluation team is expected in Lumby ahead of a decision by the province on where to put an Okanagan jail. Mayor Kevin Acton says the team will be looking at all the proposed sites in the Valley. He says team members will be looking for details such as servicing costs and geo-technical information. Acton doesn't believe last week's ``No'' protest outside the Liberal convention in Penticton will hurt the Village's application. ``I think the province also realizes that 56 percent of the people voted for it as well,'' says Acton. ``It just happens to be a group of people went down and said they didn't want it.'' The mayor says Premier Christy Clark has indicated there may be a decision on a jail sometime in June, possibly ahead of Penticton's referendum on the matter.
