A Vernon shooting victim is now a suspect in a case police say involved members of the local drug trade. A 32 year old man was shot in the shoulder by a man, and then punched by two other males outside the 39th Ave 7-11 Friday night. RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyksays the victim has been charged with one count of extortion, one of assault and two of uttering threats. "Our investigation has led us to lay charges against him for actions that likely contributed to that incident on Friday night." Molendyk says those action took place a week or two before the shooting but can't elaborate what they were. Ryan Yves Thurston Sejberg, 32 years of Vernon, is in custody and is expected to appear in court Wednesday. Assault-related charges have been laid against three other Vernon men, Anthony Edwards (40 years old), Daniel Vaneck (34)and the alleged shooter, 27 year old George Deschamps.
