North Okanagan residents are being asked to return their unused medications, back to their local pharmacy. The Regional District of North Okanagan's waste reduction coordinator
Robyn Cooper says tossing the meds in the garbage or down the drain can
be a serious threat to the environment, children and pets. "It ultimately ends up buried in our landfills, or down the drain which effectively ends up in our lakes." "The BC Pharmacy Association program started the program in an effort
to capture unused or expired medications, and make sure these items are
disposed of in an environmentally sensitive manner." People can return most types of meds to any pharmacy that's part of the program. You can get more details at www.medicationsreturn.ca.
