The leader of the BC Conservative Party makes a stop in Vernon today. John Cummins will be at the Village Green Hotel for a meet and greet with supporters from 12 to 1:30, which could give an indication of the party's support locally. The party's Vernon Monashee riding association president Ian Tribes says the support is growing."I think we're doing quite well here. A lot of people are commenting they will support us next time around. Definitely a lot of people are looking for something different." Tribes says they're getting closer to choosing a candidate. "We have a couple people, one that is just about ready to commit, and a few others who are interested..We still have to meet our party's criteria for membership to hold a nomination meeting, but we hope to be able to do it, hopefully by September." Cummins met with about 80 supporters at an event in Kelowna on Wednesday. The leader is a former Conservative Member of Parliament for Delta-Richmond East. BC's next election is set for May 14, 2013.
