Speeders on Coldstream's Middleton Way beware, there are plans to slow you down. Mayor Jim Garlick tells Kiss FM, they have looked at various options, from speed bumps to narrowing the road. "However, the simplest one, and the one we want to try, is to get the RCMP to patrol it more." Garlick says it appears construction workers working in that area, are the biggest offenders. In other council news, Coldstream's passed a couple of bylaws, one on subdivisions and development servicing, the other giving tax incentives. Mayor Garlick says the subdivision one puts a drainage works fee in place when a building permit is applied for. "We would be able to (charge) up to $2,500, and that would be in the same order as sewer and water hook-up." He says that would take care of ditching in the area, culvert work or catch basins. The other bylaw sets tax exemptions for the central core, the Trintec land by RDNO, the old glass plant site in Lavington, and the industrial area on Ricardo Road.
