Senior pedestrian struck by senior driver

An 80-year-old pedestrian ended up in the hospital Saturday after she was hit by a 94-year-old driver. The female pedestrian was crossing the intersection at 34th Street and 30th Avenue when a blue Honda turned left and struck her. She was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital where she underwent surgery for broken ribs and internal injuries. “At this time no charges have been laid against the 94-year-old driver from Vernon,” said RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk, noting that the driver did have a valid licence. “We’re still following up on that and keeping our fingers crossed for the pedestrian.”
