RCMP have issued an update on a shots fired incident in Enderby Tuesday night. Here's the details from an RCMP news release from Cpl Gerry Kovacs: Last evening shortly before 6:00PM Vernon / North Okanagan Detachment
at Enderby responded to reports of shots fired at a residence on Kildonan Ave in Enderby. A 47 year old Enderby man attended an Enderby residence armed with a hunting rifle. The
male fired a single shot into a vehicle parked at the residence and was
confronted by a female at that house, a verbal exchange between the two
parties ensued and a second shot was fired. The female took refuge in her house and was not injured. The suspect immediately fled the scene in his pick up truck. The RCMP initiated an immediate search of the community including the
use of RCMP Air services Helicopter & Police Dog Services, road
blocks were being set up in the surrounding communities. Within a short period of time RCMP received information from the
community as to the possible whereabouts of the suspect's vehicle. RCMP
also received information that he was willing to surrender himself to
police and walk out onto the Enderby – Mable Lake Rd. Without incident
the suspect was taken into custody on the Enderby – Mable Lake Rd near
Ashton Creek. The investigation into this incident is ongoing with the assistance our forensic identification units and Police Dog Services. The 47 year old suspect will be appearing in Salmon Arm Provincial
Court later today charged with attempted murder and various firearms
related charges. The entire event unfolded in approximately 1.5 hours. RCMP is crediting their ability to quickly & successfully resolve
this incident to the trust & cooperation from the community. This serves an excellent example of our integrated detachments
ability to quickly mobilize large number police resources to adequately
deal with serious incidents such as this.
