Work on repairing the Vernon Recreation Centre is expected to start this fall. 1.7 million dollars will be spent to repair the rotting roof and walls of the pool area. RDNO's facilities manager Jim Coughlin says the project should be completed by next spring or early summer. Coughlin says two de-humidification units will be put into the pool building, as the previous one was undersized. Vernon director Rob Sawatzky is pleased to see the project moving ahead. He tells Kiss FM, "I'm a bit surprised it takes as long as it does,
but I assume the managers responsible understand that their political
masters like to see things done in a timely fashion." Regional district administrator Trafford Hall says they have a pretty
good idea why the problems happened, and will make a presentation to
the GVAC board about that, this fall. "We're going to make a presentation to you so you can decide if you want to hire a consultant and go further on it."
