A cyclist was issued a violation ticket after striking a pedestrian in Vernon Tuesday. The incident occurred just after 7 p.m. on 34th Street and Okanagan Avenue. The 18-year-old Vernon cyclist either couldn’t stop on his bike or didn’t stop for two people in a crosswalk at that location. The bike clipped a 21-year-old man from Kelowna and hit
a 24-year-old Vernon man, who was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital with
a shoulder injury. The cyclist was issued a ticket for careless cycling under the Motor Vehicle Act. A witness in a vehicle that had stopped for the men in the crosswalk called the police.
