BC Transit says the bus service from Vernon to the University of BC-Okanagan campus in Kelowna is still running over capacity. Transit spokesperson Meribeth Burton says on some days, students are not getting on. "We're having full capacity loads, and in some cases we are having to leave people behind, upwards to ten people behind on peak trips in the morning, and even coming home, in one case, we had students left at the college, eight of them at one time," says Burton. She says BC Transit met with Regional District of North Okanagan staff Thursday. "We've decided that over the next two to three weeks the regional district would like to see improved service to prevent anyone from being left behind on their way to the campus, so what we're trying to decide is some options." Burton says those options include the regional district looking at creative ways to redirect current service hours, or expand the hours of service. "So sometime within the next month, there will be a meeting and there will be decisions made, and I think the students that rely on the service can rest assured that both the political and BC Transit will are on side to make some improvements as quickly as possible." Burton says it would cost the regional district an extra $19,000 a year to add an extra morning trip, but that doesn't include the cost of a new bus.
DON QUIXOTE VS. CITY HALL When an American gets mad, he says "where's my Gun". When a Canadian gets pissed off he says "Where is my pen, I'm going to send a letter to the EDITOR". When the EDITOR won't publish his letter he sets up his own BLOG page. When I received enough support to get a Council Seat the dogma of the establishment became : "Better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in." (Only time will tell !)

Why can't they use a double decker bus that runs around Kelowna 2/3 empty most of the day?
I don't know if Vernon has the clearances for a double decker.
I would like to see a second 7am or a 730am bus out of Vernon. On the return from UNBO a 3pm bus or a 330pm bus. Im glad to hear RDNO is moving forward now that they have #90 bus service responsibility.
