Second suspicious fire for Vernon shed

By Richard Rolke - Vernon Morning Star Published: October 15, 2012 8:00 AM

Investigators are trying to determine why someone is so intent in burning down a Vernon shed. Firefighters were called to reports of a shed fire in the 3000 block of 41st Avenue Saturday at about 3:35 a.m.  "It's a suspicious fire," said Lawrie Skolrood, a Vernon deputy fire chief. The structure was also the scene of a suspicious blaze in July. At that time, a number of people were sleeping inside the shed and they got out safely. There were no occupants during Saturday's blaze. "Hopefully the problem is gone because the structure is pretty much gone," said Skolrood, adding that there is a concern about two incidents at the same location within a few months of each other. "Someone running around with that intent is not that comforting." A vehicle near the shed was destroyed Saturday. The case has been turned over to the RCMP and anyone with information about Saturday's fire is asked to call the local detachment.
