Twelve current or former members of North Okanagan RCMP detachments have been honoured for their years of service. A ceremony in Vernon today saw 25 year pins given to Sergeant Rob Daly, and former Constable Frank Grenier. Grenier suffered debilitating injuries in a 2004 crash while pursuing a suspect. The collision put Grenier into a coma, and killed his riding partner that night, auxiliary constable Glen Evely. Getting their 30 year awards were Sergeant Keith Ferguson and retired Sergeant Bruce Robertson.
Other recipients included:
Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medals:
Superintendent Reg Burgess, Inspector Jim McNamara, Sergeant Dave Evans, Corporal Mark Taylor, Corporal Trevor Tribes, Constable Jonathan Klassen, Auxiliary Constable Dale Fennell. 20 year service medal: Corporal Gerry Kovacs.
