Vernon's MLA is getting a first-hand look at the changing use of tasers by BC police. Eric Foster is a member of an all party provincial committee examining policy covering the conductive energy weapons. He says recommendations made from the Thomas Braidwood inquiry have led to officers using more discretion. "Given situations they are thinking, is there something else we can do? Obviously there is because we haven't had any feedback from the police to say that with the reduced use officers have been put in danger or been hurt because of it." The committee was told taser deployments went from 640 in 2007-- the year Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski died-- to 85 last year, a decrease of 87 percent. Foster say the committee will present a report with recommendations to the government early in the new year.
DON QUIXOTE VS. CITY HALL When an American gets mad, he says "where's my Gun". When a Canadian gets pissed off he says "Where is my pen, I'm going to send a letter to the EDITOR". When the EDITOR won't publish his letter he sets up his own BLOG page. When I received enough support to get a Council Seat the dogma of the establishment became : "Better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in." (Only time will tell !)
