Parks Memo of Understanding
http://www.vernon.ca/council/MOU/index.html
The Parks MOU that has yet to be ratified by Vernon Council is now online at the links above. (Updated schedules are posted)
----------
Don Quixote Note: The ownership change of Kal Beach and the Kal Beach Parking Lot has garnered the Headlines but all parks classed as sub-regional parks (schedule 1) (where not legally encumbered by trust agreements etc) will be turned over to RDNO ownership. (Title in fee simple).
In Vernon's case this would include:
- Kin Beach (1.7 HA)
- Marshall Field Park (19.44 HA)
- Kin Race Track (7.16 Ha)
-----------------
Vernon has taken out Polson Park (13.3 HA) as being a sub-regional park and it is now reclassified as a LOCAL park with sub-regional interests. Basically all a local Park is that all maintenance and any future infrastructures costs are picked up 100% by the Jurisdiction taxpayers where the local park is located. All future costs for infrastructure and remember Polsen Park had a proposed 10 year plan for $10 million in upgrades will be picked up by Vernon Taxpayers. (Click HERE to view the report. (Pages 43 to 107)). Also any local park can not access the RDNO DCC's funds for use for any of the infrastructure parts of these upgrades.
