The N-D-P is again asking for the Liberal government to reconsider the decision not to extend the term of Auditor-General John Doyle. N-D-P caucus chair Shane Simpson has made a formal request to Vernon Liberal M-L-A Eric Foster, who chaired the committee that decided not to re-appoint Doyle, who's been sharply critical of the government. Simpson says the decision has been met with a swift, negative reaction by people who believe Doyle's done a good job. Foster told Kiss FM, it's not likely the committee will reconsider the decision "There's really been no precedent for a committee to reconvene, unless there was some information brought forward that wasn't there at the time." Meantime, Foster is calling for an investigation into how information on an audit by the A-G's office into his constituency spending, was leaked to the media. Foster says the issue--which has made provincial headlines--has made it appear like he did something wrong during renovations to his Vernon office. "They're bringing my integrity into question, and I'm been in this game for a long time and that doesn't happen. I've been pretty honest and forthright for my whole career, and that part of it upsets me."
