Eric Foster's office on 31st Ave in Vernon |
B.C.'s conflict commissioner has posted a report done last year, into concerns about Eric Foster's office being owned by the family of his executive assistant. Foster says the report by Paul Fraser clears him, and that should end the issue. "It's posted on his website, and it's basically that I was not in any kind of a conflict," Foster told Kiss FM. Local B.C. Conservative candidate Scott Anderson and party leader John Cummins had requested the report be made public, but Anderson says they still have concerns. "Taxpayers have essentially paid for a building for Mr. Foster's friend, and we don't think that's a good use of taxpayers money," Anderson says. Anderson questions if Foster misled the commissioner, claiming there's some factual errors in the letter to the official. "We're going to be putting out a news release on Friday, but some of it is, the commissioner describes the building as being owned by the in-laws of Mr. Foster's constituency assistant, and the family of his assistant's husband. The fact of the matter is, Mr. Foster's assistant is married to the owner of the building, so it's not a case of in-laws once removed, or this sort of thing." Anderson says the concerns include waisting taxpayers money and ethics issues.
