Haugli on the move

Saturday, 02 February 2013 02:00 SCOTT TRUDEAU- Penticton Herald:
Insp. Brad Haugli
Penticton's officer in charge admitted he's not fond of goodbyes.   Insp. Brad Haugli has accepted a newly created position as the RCMP's Investigative Services Officer for the Lower Mainland district and will be based in Surrey.   Haugli will be leaving Penticton the first week of April.   "I have to say it was a very difficult decision for me and my family," said Haugli. "As I said before, when I came back here for the second time, Penticton is home to me and now home to my family. However, when joining the RCMP over 22 years ago, I made commitment to the organization. I also realized it's a mobile organization."  Haugli will oversee the RCMP's integrated units which spans a vast area from Boston Bar through the Lower Mainland to Pemberton. He will be responsible for units such as the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, police dog service and forensics, as well as examining RCMP operations and policies relating to major investigations. This includes homicides, high-risk missing persons and plain clothes operations.  Haugli accepted the position in September and decided to wait until his home in Penticton sold before announcing he'd taken the new position.   The job was open to anyone with a rank of inspector or superintendent. Haugli applied for the position at the end of the summer. (more)
