The campaign to look at amalgamation of Greater Vernon now has over a thousand on line signups as well as another 3 to 400 mail ins. Director Peter Moore says the Greater Vernon Governance Society will step it up as of October 7th, starting a door to door campaign. The group says their aim is to get the issue out for discussion and get the province to show options and costs with a public referendum in November 2014 As yet they haven't said how many signatures they're looking for other than it must be significant .
The petition reads: As a citizen of Greater Vernon, I support a review by local and provincial authorities, to develop a plan to combine our regional governments (City of Vernon, District of Coldstream, Electoral Area B, and Electoral Area C) into a single entity, for the purpose of more efficient use of our local tax dollars.

I am sure Mr Moore was around in 2008 when the governance issue was a favourite topic of politicians of both local and provincial levels. In case they missed it they can get a snippet of it by way of news clips I presented on the following link:
