They're still counting and verifying but the Greater Vernon Governance Society says they have enough names to move on to a study of amalgamation. Director Bruce Shepherd says they used the 2011 municipal election turnouts as a baseline for what they need. He says "Minimum threshold if you will, was, we felt would be a substantial and credible representation to look at next steps was to have at least 10 percent of the voter turnout from the 2011 municipal election,right now in all jurisdictions we are over 20 percent of that threshold." Shepherd says they're still getting submissions and will keep the process open for now. He notes at this point they have a 24% response from Coldstream, but it's less clear in areas B and C where it appears some residents think they live in Coldstream.
