The Regional District of North Okanagan's building inspection service is losing at least one participant. Lumby is pulling out, citing the expense of the function. "It's a huge function at the regional district that costs a lot to run, and with the downturn of the economy, has been using its reserves over the last several years to keep it alive," says Lumby Mayor Kevin Acton. Acton says the village office is where he'd like to see the operation. "It will be wound down over the next two years and that will give us time to figure out what we want to do. A function like seems best served out of the local office anyways," Acton tells Kiss FM. RDNO building inspectors conduct reviews of building permit applications to ensure they are conforming with BC Building Code requirements, development bylaws, and other related regulations.
