Local citizens leading a push for a closer look at Greater Vernon amalgamation have agreed to meet again with the area's MLA. Eric Foster met with reps from the governance society that's behind a campaign to streamline local government. The group has estimated they have at least 3,000 supporters which Foster says is notable. "I think they've done well. It really will depend on how the numbers spread out, if they're all from one area of if there's good representation from all areas (Vernon, Coldstream and Electoral Areas B and C of the regional district)," says Foster. Foster says taking the next step -- which could be a detailed study -- will be up the citizens group, not the province. "This initiative is driven by the local grassroots, the individual citizens. That's what these guys have done and then we (province) look for direction from local government." The society plans to release its numbers on Thursday. Today's meeting with the MLA was set earlier when the society thought they would have their final numbers tallied.
