Elections for mayors and councillors take place this fall, but no word yet if Rob Sawatzky's name will be on the ballot. Vernon's one term mayor says he's still thinking over another run, but is pleased to hear there's interest in local politics. "It's really gratifying that people are actually interested in who is running in local government, and I think that's great. Apathy kills it." Sawatzky says he'll make his decision by early summer. "I think a person should give it due consideration, and there'a number of months to go before I make up my mind, or make an announcement," Sawatzky tells Kiss FM. Sawatzky, a retired physician, defeated incumbent Wayne Lippert in the mayor's race in 2011.
