Five arts and culture groups in Greater Vernon will get a share of more than 100-thousand dollars ($108,235) in BC Arts Council grants.Vernon Monashee MLA Eric Foster says the O'Keefe Ranch and Interior Heritage Society get the biggest cheque for 42-thousand dollars, while others went to the Greater Vernon Museum, the Arts Council of the North Okanagan, Vernon Public Art Gallery, and Caetani Cultural Centre. "Arts and culture organizations are centres of creativity and community," says Foster. "They remind us who we are, where we come from, and where we are going."

Here's the list of grants:
O'Keefe Ranch and Interior Heritage Society:$42,000
Greater Vernon Museum and Archives:$24,000
Arts Council of the North Okanagan:$19,735
Vernon Public Art Gallery Society $16,500
Caetani Cultural Centre Society $6,000

The funding comes from a record-high $24 million the BC Arts Council received from the provincial government to support artists, arts activities and culture in the 2013-14 fiscal year.
