The BC Conservatives have chosen a new leader. Dan Brooks of Kamloops beat out Rick Peterson of Vancouver for the position formerly held by John Cummins. Brooks told CKNW, the party has to work on its credibility. "We have to prove to the people of British Columbia that we are prepared. So we have a lot more to do than our opponents do, in order to have that credibility. So yes, I'm prepared to do that. That's what I've been campaigning on for the last 7-8 months." Brooks is a small business owner in the tourism sector who received 62 percent of the vote.
The party finished fourth in the 2013 BC election, getting 4.7% of the votes.
