Communities get grants

by Staff Writer - Vernon Morning Star posted Apr 4, 2014 at 1:00 AM
The B.C. government is providing funds to local governments in recognition of their commitment to support a healthier, more sustainable community. Vernon will receive $53,298 while the North Okanagan Regional District will get $41,596. There is $8,674 for Coldstream and $7,980 for Lumby. Armstrong will receive $3,036 and Enderby will get $4,973. “By signing the Climate Action Charter these communities are showing their dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility,” said Eric Foster, Vernon-Monashee MLA. “This program provides real incentives to reduce emissions creating greener, more livable communities in the Shuswap,” said Greg Kyllo, Shuswap MLA. As a signatory of the Climate Action Charter, local governments received a grant to support the community’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and work toward their Climate Action Charter goals.

Don Quixote Note:
Looks like Vernon understated revenue for Carbon Tax rebate in 2014 budget. (53298-49509 = $3789)
