Marihuana Rules Debated

Written by Glen Morrison 107.5 KISSFM Wednesday, 09 April 2014 06:01
Lumby and Spallumcheen have gone in opposite directions on the medical marihuana issue. Lumby mayor Kevin Acton says they'll restrict the commercial grows to their large industrial zone despite the tax rate being agricultural. He says "We don't have a lot of farm land, I think we have one farm land status piece of property in Lumby, so we can set the farm rates at whatever the municipality decides to set the farm rates at." For her part Spall mayor Janice Brown says they've chosen to start over and require the operations on agricultural rather than industrial land thus saving the tax revenue from the higher rated industrial properties.
