A former local politician is apparently ready to try his hand at the federal level. Wayne Lippert, who served two terms as Vernon mayor until 2011, will hold a news conference at the Schubert Centre today. Lippert will confirm a run for the North Okanagan Shuswap Conservative nomination, currently held by Colin Mayes who has said he will not be seeking a fourth term. There's already three other candidates: Scott Anderson of Vernon, Mel Arnold of Salmon Arm, and Janet Green of Lumby. The party is expected to choose its candidate in October. The next federal election is on October 19, 2015.
