It could be a sign that voter interest is up for the municipal elections. Advance polls were steady in Vernon Wednesday for the opening day at the Schubert Centre with 1003 ballots cast, up from the first day in 2011, which had 813. Coldstream drew 188 voters, up from 144 three years ago. The Spallumcheen poll saw 59, more than double the 2011 tally of 27. The RDNO Area D (rural Lumby) advance drew a surprising 149 voters, where incumbent Rick Fairbairn is being challenged by Huguette Allen. RDNO's Area F, rural Enderby, with incumbent Jackie Pearse against former director Herman Halvorson had 113 advance voters. Armstrong had about 70 people mark ballots. In Enderby, city voters cast 91 ballots, the last advance was 39.
