Kal Tire Place Could Host More Concerts

The Bands on the Run show that visited Vernon Saturday night at Kal Tire Place has been deemed a huge success by the promoter. The City of Vernon, which presented the show, is hoping to bring more acts to the city-owned venue, and promoter David Hesketh says the Road Hammers, BlackJack Billy, and Doc Walker may have been the first of more such acts in future. "The concert almost broke even, but the event was very profitable, so I think we're close to break even totally on the thing which is awesome. But the number one thing I was concerned about was the walk away talk, and I counted smiles in the foyer as people were leaving, and it was all smiles," Hesketh tells Kiss FM. Hesketh says he will look at acts in the new year that will fill a two-thousand seat arena setting or fifteen hundred seat theatre-bowl in the future. He says they will be known acts, but not ones that Kelowna and Penticton host, shows that can cost a million dollars to bring in. "They'll be in the $50,000 range and they'll have to guarantee a good show like these guys did, but they will be recognizable names," adds Hesketh.
