Plans are in the works to renovate part of the Vernon Recreation Complex. Mayor Akbal Mund says council will get more details at a special meeting this morning at City Hall, but part of it involves upgrading the entrance, lobby and bridge over the creek. "What they want to do is make it look nicer outside. When you come over the bridge to the Rec Centre, it looks old and outdated. They want to fix it up to make it look modern," Mund tells Kiss FM. Mund is not aware of the projected cost as yet. Council will also get an overview of the 2015 budget from CAO Will Pearce and Finance Manager Kevin Bertles, and consider a request for temporary exhibition space for the Vernon Art Gallery when they host the Okanagan Print Triennial next March. "They want to take a couple of big box steel units and covert them into space where they can show this exhibition, because obviously they don't have enough room in their own gallery," says Mund.
