Assessments In The Mail

Over 72 thousand property owners in the North Okanagan can expect their assessment notices in the mail over the next while, assessments that for residential are anywhere from a 5% dip to a 10% increase. The B.C. Assessment branch says almost 393 million was added to the rolls in the past year, through new construction, rezoning and subdivisions . The overall roll is up by almost a billion dollars to 27 billion 173 million. The most expensive area is Coldstream with assessments at 516 thousand on average this year, up from 488 thousand last year. By contrast Vernon edged up to 396 thousand and Lumby dipped 5 thousand to 250 thousand dollars. Other numbers show Armstrong up to $302,000 from $291,000,Enderby is up to $237,000 from $245,000, Spallumcheen up a bit to $332,000. Kelowna leapt from $491 thousand to $521,000. Lake Country jumped from $494,000 to $519,000 and West Kelowna climbed from $473,000 to $506,000 The number one valued home in the area is 180 Swick Road in Kelowna at $10,828,000 it's a waterfront acreage. Those with commercial or industrial properties are looking at zero to 5% increases. The numbers are tied to a July 1st 2014 valuation date and anyone not pleased is asked to contact B.C. Assessment with their concern, if that doesn't work out then there is an appeal process that closes February 2nd.
