Vernon council will review its 2015 budget at three special meetings next week. They will be held Wednesday to Friday at City Hall starting each day at 9 am, and they are open to the public. "Council has set aside three full days to scrutinize the proposed 2015 budget and five-year financial plan," says Mayor Akbal Mund. "Each day, time is set aside for public input at 11 am, which council welcomes." "As presented, the 2015 budget and five-year financial plan maintains current levels of service—including fire and rescue services, policing, economic development, etc.—and provides for sustainable infrastructure investment for roads, municipal buildings and storm water management," reads a city news release. The preliminary budget increase is 3.7%, 1.8 percent for services and 1.9% for an infrastructure fund, which raised $585,000 this year. The proposed budget plan can be viewed HERE.
