Two Percent Tax Hike In Coldstream

Written by Glen Morrison 107.5 KISSFM Tuesday, 24 February 2015 18:00
The District of Coldstream is getting closer to completing its financial plan for 2015. Mayor Jim Garlick says there will be an open house on the budget the night of Tuesday March 3rd, from 6 to 8 pm, at the municipal hall. "There's a two percent tax increase mainly going into reserves, such as the pavement management plan so that that can be increased," says Garlick. Garlick says the land fund portion is for things like property acquisition for the Kidston Road walkway to Kal Park. "For that, we need to buy strips of land along there. We're also looking at Coldstream Creek Road in areas, and on Learmouth Road in Lavington." The mayor says the total increase will be about 80 thousand dollars, or about $34 on the average tax bill.
