The B.C. government is putting proceeds made from criminal activity, to good use. Vernon Monashee MLA Eric Foster has announced five grants to three different organizations. "It's a great day when you can take money from the bad guys, and give it to the good guys, and that's what this is all about. This is proceeds from crime money, money that is gained by illegal means," says Foster. The Vernon Women's Transition House gets two grants: $9,688 dollars for a new youth and child advocacy centre, and $7,370 dollars for technology training to enhance women's safety. The North Okanagan Restorative Justice program will get $6,633, while Vernon RCMP Victim's Services will get $5,000, and the RCMP will receive $13,278 to purchase equipment used in crime fighting.
