Ag Plan Ready For Public

Posted on 4/22/2015 by Pete McIntyre 107.5 KISSFM
A plan that identifies priorities for agriculture and food production in the North Okanagan is ready to go before the public. Regional district director and advisory panel vice chair Mike Macnabb says their draft agricultural plan focuses on protecting farmland, strengthening the local economy, and managing water. "It's a huge economic driver. It's a sleeper as nobody recognizes how important agriculture is to the North Okanagan. It's a 126 million dollars in gross receipts every year, and it's constant," Macnabb tells Kiss FM. The regional district will hold open houses to present the plan to the public, and get feedback. They will be May 1st at the White Valley Community Centre in Lumby, and at the IPE Horticulture Building in Armstrong May 2nd.
