Local Communities Get Green Grants

Posted on 4/22/2015 by Ron Manz 107.5 KISSFM
The provincial government is providing 180-thousand dollars to eight North Okanagan communities to help reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Vernon leads the list getting over 88-thousand from the Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program. Salmon Arm gets just under 50-thousand. Spallumcheen will receive 13-thousand and Coldstream just over 10-thousand. Communities reporting publicly on their progress toward meeting climate action goals are eligible to get 100 percent of the carbon tax they pay directly. 96 percent of BC communities have signed the Climate Action Charter.
