There’s no change at the top of the Okanagan Indian Band. Byron Louis has won a third, two year term to lead the Vernon area band. Louis received 275 votes, beating two former chiefs. Dan Wilson was the runner up with 153, and Fabian Alexis had 130 votes. The band council had nine of the ten members re-elected. The only change was Dan Wilson defeating incumbent Diane Louis. Leland Wilson topped the councillor polls with 267 votes, followed by Tim Isaac with 260 and Allan Brent Louis with 258 and Raymond Marchand with 250. Voter turnout has not been released, but about 1,500 band members were eligible to vote, both on and off reserve.
