Greater Vernon residents may find out as early as Thursday if tougher water restrictions may be put in place. The Okanagan Basin Water Board has asked all valley residents to reduce their water consumption by 30% currently to help prevent a level 4 drought in the Okanagan. Regional District of North Okanagan inspectors will be measuring reservoir and lake levels today (Wednesday) according to Water Sustainability Coordinator Jennifer Miles. "Basically what we are doing right now is looking week-to-week when we go up to our reservoirs to see where we're at before we make any further decisions on changing our restrictions stages." Miles says we are currently at a mid-point in stage one water storage levels. "We haven't hit the stage two level yet, but we are watching that very closesly in case our demand spikes. We're hopeful. There was a bit of cooler weather there that helped our demands a little bit."
