A city-owned building will be torn down and used for more parking in downtown Vernon. Council has given the go ahead to demolish the New Delhi Restaurant building on 30th Avenue, and install interim parking and landscaping. Mayor Akbal Mund says the estimated cost of the project is 50-thousand dollars. "They'll be able to provide more parking spaces for the people downtown. Everybody's always complaining about parking downtown, well here's another 22 spaces." Mund says the city bought the site several years ago to use for a possible extension of 25th Avenue, which he says could still go ahead someday.
