The deadline for applications from the public to be considered for inclusion on the advisory committee for the Greater Vernon Master Water plan was last Monday. A total of 35 applicants came forward. Greater Vernon Water manager Zee Macolin says the makeup of the committee could be completed this week. "We have a GVAC meeting this week, so we will discuss the applicants during the in-camera session. The GVAC members will decide who they would like on the committee." Macolin says they are a real cross section of the community and and their inclusion will be decided on what expertise they bring to the table. "We did ask about why they were interested in sitting on the committee, what their experience is, we didn't ask for resumes but some people provided them. We were really just looking for general information about each candidate." Macolin says a GVAC meeting happens next week and at that time members will choose who they want on the committee and after that the review process will begin. "We will discuss with GVAC the timing for meetings, so we are anticipating if everything goes all right, that we will begin meeting in September and then have a meeting once a month." The entire water plan review could take up to six months to complete.
