Up to 100-thousand dollars in public funds could be spent to make the bar larger at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre. The Greater Vernon Advisory Committee committee has agreed to a Request for Proposals on the project.Chair Juliette Cunningham says the facility has trouble meeting the demand for drinks during some events."They seem to have a lack of capacity. The bar area is very small. There's just two small counters and they are separated, so we're trying to join the counter from the one area to the other."Cunningham says the current layout is not able to meet the demand at some higher attended events."People can't get a drink before the intermission is over, so they are just trying to increase their capacity to deal with the volumes."Regional District of North Okanagan staff had originally budgeted 30-thousand dollars for the project, but quotes came back significantly higher than expected.Another project to paint the facility's front doors and windows will be reconsidered for the 2016 budget year.
