Face of RCMP retiring

The face of the Vernon RCMP is retiring. For years, Gord Molendyk was the representative of the police in the North Okanagan, commenting on everything from homicides, such as the high-profile murder of Armstrong teen Taylor Van Diest, to some of the more bizarre crimes in the city, such as a limo driver who called police to deal with his drunk passengers, only to be charged with impaired driving himself. As media relations officer for the RCMP, the former constable became a well-known figure. “My job over the years working with all of the media outlets was one of my most challenging yet rewarding jobs that I had,” Molendyk said.
