It looks like Greater Vernon will be holding a referendum this fall for a new ice sheet. The BC government's Ministry of Community Development has given its approval to hold the vote after holding it up since last fall over jurisdictional issues. The vote would seek consent to borrow up to 13.2 million dollars to add a second ice sheet at Kal Tire Place. Regional District of North Okanagan administrator David Sewell says if the regional district board gives its approval at its meeting tonight, the vote could be held Saturday, November 28th. "There's a communications plan, which the City of Vernon is responsible for, to getting the message out, in terms of the facts of the build, and what voters can expect to receive for approving the loan authorization bylaw," Sewell tells Kiss FM.
