A city manager says they are willing to work with the Vernon Farmers Market to find a suitable alternative location. The markets would be forced to relocate from the Kal Tire Place parking lot for up to two years, if a new arena at the north end of the facility, gets the go ahead in a referendum. Recreation Services manager Doug Ross has met with market officials to discuss using the Performing Arts Centre parking Lot. "You know when we look at our inventory of parking lots, looking to what we have, it's the most feasible one." While Market officials say that would be too small, Ross says it would meet the market's requirement of being at least 50-thousand square feet. Adding a second ice sheet at Kal Tire Place on the west side of the building, is not being considered by local politicians. He says one reason is the ongoing legal battle over Kin Race Track, but there are other reasons. "One of them was the site works that would need to be done on the west side. There is a transition there of soil types and the civil engineer said there would be a considerable site works that would be required." Ross says they are willing to work with the market and look at other options. "We're certainly still positive about working with them to try and find something that will accommodate them while the work is being done if we have a successful referendum."
