Time is running out to hold a Greater Vernon arena referendum this fall. Regional District administrator David Sewell says they still haven't gotten provincial approval for a vote to twin Kal Tire Place. He says it's getting close to a drop-dead date for putting it off until next spring. "Certainly we're within that, 'it's really got to happen' otherwise at some point politically it's not reasonable to have it and administratively we can't accomplish all that we need to accomplish." "We are running out of days. If we don't get the certificate of approval very, very shortly, frankly in a matter of days, it doesn't matter. We just aren't going to have enough days to hold a referendum anyways." "Victoria is well aware of the timelines. Our local MLA has been involved on this file and local politicians have been active on this one as well." Sewell says they need a minimum 5 weeks before a referendum, to hold information meetings and advance polls.
