The City of Vernon has launched a website to promote the Nov. 28th arena referendum vote and to answer any questions the public may have in relation to the borrowing bylaw. There are lists of frequently asked questions, and information on who and where people can vote.

Doug Ross, the Director of Recreation Services says there will be more public information available in the next three weeks. "There's also going to be some public open houses. We're going to have some information booths out in the public. We'll be at the Viper games. There will be a lot of opportunities for people to speak to somebody and look at the information and designs. ask questions and to get answers," Ross tells Kiss FM. Ross says giving the public all the information they need to make an informed decision is the key. "It's our responsibility to make sure that the public is aware, so that is what we are trying to do. To make them aware of the condition of the Civic Arena and then to let them know the project that is planned and what that will cost." Ross says the general public has been responding both positively and negatively to the bylaw so far. "We get some comments for and against and it shows the public is engaged. That is our main goal to make sure the public is educated about the whole process and that they get engaged and go out and vote," adds Ross. Greater Vernon voters (Vernon, Coldstream and Electoral Areas B and C) are being asked to approve borrowing $13.25 million dollars to construct a second ice sheet on the north side of Kal Tire Place.
