There may be no action at Kin Race Track but there seems to be some movement in negotiations over the site. “We have a response going back to the City of Vernon,” confirmed Ed Woolley, spokesperson for the Okanagan Equestrian Society, following a board meeting this week. Woolley said the letter would be sent out soon. “There was extensive discussion at the table with regards to this matter,” he added, refusing to give any detail. The prime piece of real estate next to Kal Tire Place has been the subject of debate for years. At a recent meeting, city officials made a proposal to the society that has not been made public. “Everybody is tired of it dragging out and it is not doing the city or the society any good. I think it's to the benefit of the society and the people of the city that this be resolved one way or the other in the near future,” Woolley said at the time. The society's annual general meeting has been rescheduled to Jan. 31 when the matter is expected to be up for discussion. Woolley said the board also discussed the homeless people living in dilapidated stables at the track. Although he reiterated there would be no effort to make the people leave, Woolley said he would visit the site over the weekend to ensure they were all ok.
